ESPN 840 Bracket Buster Challenge Contest Rules

ESPN 840 Bracket Buster Challenge Contest Rules

ESPN 840 Bracket Buster Challenge

Official Contest Rules

Must be 21 or older to win. Brackets will be available for pick up on Sunday March 16 after the Tournament Selection show. Bracket must be dropped in the location drop boxes before Thursday March 20 at 11 a.m.

Contestants must fill out the back of the bracket in its entirety with name, phone number, e-mail address and valid date of birth.

Contest winners will be decided by a point system as follows:

1 point for 1st round winners selected

2 points for 2nd round winners selected (Sweet 16)

4 points for Elite 8 teams selected

8 points for Final 4 teams selected

12 points for Championship teams selected

16 points Champion Selected

This season we are REWARDING people who take upsets. For every upset you correctly pick, you receive BONUS points based on the severity of the upset.

Example 1: If you pick the 9 seed to beat the 8 seed in the first round, and it happens, you’d receive 2 points. 1 for picking the 1st round winner correctly, and 1 for picking the upset (9-8=1)

Example 2: If you pick the 15 seed to upset the 2 seed in the first round, and it happens, you should be playing this in Vegas. You receive 14 points. 1 for picking the 1st round winner correctly, and 13 whopping points for correctly predicting that huge upset (15-2=13). Simple enough.

First Tie Breaker will be decided by guessing the total points scored in the NCAA Championship game.

Second Tie Breaker will be total number of winners selected.

If ESPN 840 actually has to come up with a 3rd tie breaker those contestants that are tied will all win prizes of equal value to the prize that would have been awarded in case of no tie! (Don't make us work harder than we have to... go ahead and pick that #14 seed to make the Sweet 16)

If prizes advertised become unavailable ESPN 840 reserves the right to replace advertised prize with a prize of equal or greater value.

Individual contestants may submit no more than two (2) brackets into the contest. Submitting three (3) or more brackets will cancel all brackets submitted.

Contest winners will be posted online at espn840.com, announced on the radio station the day after the Tournament Championship, and winners will be contacted by the station. If ESPN 840 is unable to contact a winner and that winner does not contact the station for prize pick up within one (1) week of being announced as a contest winner, then ESPN 840 will move on to the next best bracket and award prizes to that individual.

Because of this ESPN 840 will not collect and re-distribute prizes. If 2nd and 3rd place pick up their prizes and 1st place can not be contacted then 4th place will win the prizes that would have gone to 1st place.

To sum all this up: Give us a valid phone number and e-mail address and keep checking contest standings on espn840.com so that we don't have to track down people who did not fill out a good bracket but were lucky enough that you were too lazy to pick up the phone!

Contest standings will be updated weekly every Monday on espn840.com following the past weekends games. ESPN 840 will list the individuals currently in the top 10 overall.

ESPN 840 has final say on the scoring, and the results cannot be challenged or changed. Once the final standings are announced they are final.

Contest rules also available at bracket pick up locations. Questions can be directed to station management by calling our offices at 434-985-8585.

Good Luck!

UVa quarterbacks still battling
[Aug. 20, 2008] Long after a practice had completed last week at Virginia’s football practice facility, Pete Lalich stayed on the field, firing spiral after spiral to fellow quarterback Riko Smalls.

Lalich, a sophomore, eventually elected to end the tutorial session with the rookie.

“Let’s take it in the house,” Lalich said.

That was as close as media members have been to obtaining a quote from Lalich or any other quarterback in the program.

[Aug. 20, 2008] The Carolina Panthers are still a few days from making their first cuts.

But after watching three weeks of camp and a pair of preseason games, it's becoming clear that a number of regular- season jobs are going to need to be filled by guys who aren't even here yet, or guys who were planning on smaller roles.
